Students build Argumentation Tower in Ms. Grobe's AP World History class -- 3.6.17

Ms. Amanda Grobe’s AP World History class is working on improving their writing skills by focusing on argumentation. According to apworldhistoryteacher.com, “a collection of assertions is no more an argument than a pile of bricks is a building. Both must be planned, organized, and thoughtfully supported. Students rarely come into class with this skill.” To help understand the process of argumentation, students worked in pairs to build an “Argument Tower” out of index cards. Students must first develop a claim, support their claim with evidence, and then provide reasoning and analysis. Each card is supported by the other to show the strength of building a convincing argument.
